On October 1st 2013 I wrote a list of attributes of what, in my opinion, constitute writing that is pleasant to read.

For example, one of the items on the list was:

Doesn’t try to show off the writer’s cleverness or facility with words. In fact, the writing is enjoyable because it was written for the benefit of the reader rather than the writer.

I still agree with that — and with the other things on the list too. Also, the three articles suggested for further reading (not written by me) have also stood the test of time.
