Is it OK to plagiarise yourself? The reason I ask is that yesterday I was going to write an article, using chunks of a couple of articles I’d published before (plus some original material). However, I wondered if that kind of recycling was cheating somehow, or that anyone who is familiar with the original articles would think me lazy.
Aftera while I gave up thinking about it: I was tired, and anyway I have four books to read and review. One of these is A Town Without Time, by Gay Talese. It was then I discovered that the title essay includes several chunks of prose lifted from an atricle about cats that he’d written and published four years before.
Well, I guess if it’s good enough for Gay Talese, it’s good enough for me. It still doesn’t feel quite right though.
