How to not write without feeling guilty

When does not writing count as writing?

It’s easy to feel guilty for spending the day not writing. But sometimes you really do need to other things, whether it’s reading, research, or sorting out the electricity bill.

I wrote about this in 2019, in an article entitled My non-writing writing day.

For an alternative but complementary view, read Everyday Activities that Definitely Count as Writing by Bill Ferris. Ferris stretches the point a bit in places, but this gently humorous piece is right on the button. It’s incisive, with some great suggestions for how to count things you may be doing instead of writing as writing!
