My non-writing writing day

Lloyds Building, London, by Terry Freedman

Every writer needs a writing day in which they don’t write. We need time to regroup, get reinspired, get our mojo going again. This was my non-writing day in early November:

  1. Breakfast meeting at the Society of Authors.

  2. Attendance on a course called Great European Short Stories. We covered Isak Dinesen, about whom I have mixed feelings.

  3. Worked on some articles, one of which was shared quite a bit even though I only bashed it out in 27 minutes (mind you, I’d done a lot of “prewriting”).

  4. Attended an induction session for the City Lit, where I will be teaching a course on blogging.

  5. Walked around London, ambling my way via a circuitous route to Liverpool Street station. I love London, and I especially love it at night. During my perigrination I took the photo shown here.

This may not amount to a hill of beans to you, (to quote from Casablanca), but the point is that although I did no writing, all of the activities outlined above were related to writing. In music, the silences are as important as the sounds. It’s the same with writing.
