Creative writing exercise: reflections; I remember

The exercise was to take photos on the theme of reflections, and then write about one of them. The photo below looks pretty, but has an unlikely source. It was a puddle of rain water on top of a dustbin lid!

I remember- reflections, by Terry Freedman

I remember a book called I Remember, by George Perec. I haven’t read it, but it’s reflective. The photo reminds me of La Jetee, a time travel film told entirely in black and white photographs and a voice-over. The film’s ending leads us to where it began, and so in that sense the story is reflective. It raises the question: “Who is doing the reflecting?”. Who is the “I” in “I remember”? And how do we know if any of it is true?
